cliff-falcon began with a simple frustration. We had spent years driving the roads of South Africa—professionally as travel consultants and personally as people who love this landscape—yet every guidebook and travel website seemed to funnel visitors toward the same crowded attractions.
The Garden Route, stripped of nuance, became a checklist. Bungee jump at Bloukrans. Photograph the Heads at Knysna. Move on. Meanwhile, roads we considered among the most beautiful in the country went unmentioned. Villages where we had spent memorable afternoons appeared nowhere in the itineraries tourists followed.
Our Approach
We do not operate tours. We do not book accommodation. What we do is share the knowledge accumulated over years of methodical exploration: which route to take between two points, where to stop, what you will find there, and how to engage with each place respectfully.
Every route we publish has been driven multiple times, in different seasons, noting how conditions change and how communities evolve. We maintain relationships with local contacts—shop owners, guesthouse managers, community leaders—who alert us when circumstances shift.
Our itineraries include not just directions but context. When you stop at a particular viewpoint, we explain what you are seeing: the geological forces that shaped those cliffs, the historical significance of that bay, the plant species covering those slopes. Travel, we believe, should leave you more informed than when you began.
